Corona-Inspired Empath Myth-Tip #2

As folks, particularly those in the metaphysically-minded marketplace, try to help others make sense of the current state of the world and find some meaning (read market), there is one one myth that keeps resurfacing like herpes.

Like the other gift that keeps on giving, it can cause great unseen harm and reinforces fears and trauma response. It is this: “you are feeling things like other people’s emotions to teach you empathy.” I listened to a celebrity spiritual-type say that a couple of weeks ago, out loud.

It is absolutely not true. You are feeling the emotions of others because, quite simply, you can feel the emotions of others. Period, it has nothing to do with you not being an empathetic-enough person and needing to suffer more to be anything ‘enough’ in another’s judgment.

You are feeling it all because you are not separated from any of it. You are tied to it all because you are tied to everything, all things. Feel and express the cries of the world: https://parabola.org/2016/06/14/hearing-the-cries-of-the-world-by-mark-nepo/

You will also experience the joys of the world, the power of the world, the beauty of the world, the giddiness and goodness of the world. You will experience it all. You must experience it all. Think of it this way: someone, somewhere has no idea they are experiencing your most fantastic orgasm when you are.

And the next time someone tries to sell you on the idea that you are enough, except when you’re not, it’s time to go in another direction.
